The opening of the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden at the Akron Art Museum two years ago gave the museum an enhanced environment for its long-running Downtown@Dusk free summertime concerts.
They kick off again this week with jazz trumpeter Curtis Taylor, a Bedford, Ohio native who headed for the east coast to get his masters degree at Rutgers University. Since then He’s performed with pianist Cyrus Chestnut’s band, toured Europe with sax player James Carter’s quintet and worked with jazz vocalist Gregory Porter on his Grammy-winning 2013 album Liquid Spirit.
Taylor will be joined by Akron jazz pianist Theron Brown, who is on the music faculty at Kent State and a familiar presence on area stages.
Downtown@Dusk is free and open to all.
