Valley Art Center Preps for Crocheted Installation Project

Sat 4/17 & Sun 4/18 @ 2-4PM

From May 15-21 Valley Art Center will be installing an distinctive show called Fantastic at Fifty – Valley Art Center’s Anniversary Community Art Project. For that show, fiber artist Carol Hummel will lead a team of volunteers in wrapping the trees outside its building in downtown Chagrin Falls with colorful crocheted circles. Hummel, a Chagrin Valley resident who took classes along with her daughter at VAC, has done installations across the country and abroad.  Her daughter Molly Sedensky, who has worked with her on many installation projects, will be helping with the design, coordination, training and installation.

To prepare for the show, Valley Art Center is hosting a pair of artist-led workshops to teach participants to crochet these circles on Saturday April 17 and Sunday April 18. Those interested in taking part should register at valleyartcenter.org/classes which will sign them up to receive a kit. Do it now; class sizes are limited.
