Dance to Toledo’s Hepcats at the Bainbridge Swing Dance

Sat 4/6 @ 8PM

The monthly Bainbridge Swing Dances at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls are fun for all ages, for experienced dancers and those who’ve never been near a dance floor before. It’s a chance for people of all ages to socialize, learn some dance steps and hear some great live music.

The dances all start with a lesson at 8pm so you can learn the basics or pick up some new steps if you’ve been to dances before – and experienced dancers pitch in to help out the beginners.

From 9-11pm, a live band takes the stage for two hours of dancing. And they book some of the region’s outstanding bands who play danceable music. This month’s band is a frequent performer at these dances: Toledo’s Hepcat Revival. The seven-piece ensemble has been rocking regional crowds for a quarter of a decade, performing music of such ’40s/’50s jump blues/jazz/swing shouters as Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway and Big Joe Turner, widely considered to be the direct precursors of rock & roll. And they dress to reflect that era too, although you can wear anything — just make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Come alone, come with a partner, come with your family — it doesn’t matter because in swing dancing, you’ll be changing partners all night long.
