Buffalo’s Moe, who stylize their name as moe., have their feet in two worlds — progressive rock and jam rock. And of course the latter takes in many more worlds. Their catapult into the fervent and loyal jam-band scene was their 1992 debut Fatboy, launching them just as a new generation of young jam fans were seeking out their own bands to follow in the footsteps of the Grateful Dead, soon to be derailed by the death of the iconic Jerry Garcia in 1995.
Moe hit the ground running, appearing at virtually every festival that mattered form the Furthur Festival to Woodstock 99 to several early iterations of Bonaroo back when it was primarily appealing to jam fans. Four of the five members have been with the band since the early ’90s; the only “newcomer” is drummer Vinnie Amico who has “only” been with them since 1996. Its last studio album, No Guts, No Glory, came out in 2014, but who waits for a studio album to go see a jam band?
They’ll be at the Kent Stage, stretchin’ out. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door.
