The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes and the Shaker Historical Society rescheduled their December Winter Solstice Luminary Walk, and it’s taking place this week, renamed the Winter Wonderland Luminary Walk.
It gives visitors an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Shaker Lakes neighborhood after dark and, it appears, covered with snow. South Park Boulevard, the boardwalk at the All People’s Trail of the Nature Center and the driveway of the Shaker Historical Society will all be lined with luminary candles, and visitors are invited to walk any part of the route — or all of it. The Nature Center will have a bonfire and an outside heated pavilion. The Shaker Historical Society will also have a heated outdoor area. Both will have snacks and warm beverages — both alcoholic and non — available for purchase
In addition, both locations will have selfie locations with winter-themed props. The Nightingale Women’s A Cappella group will perform at the Shaker Historical Society @ 6-7pm and the Akron barbershop quartet Lock 4 will perform at the Nature Center @ 7-8m. The event is free.
