Joshua Harmon’s play Significant Other was described by the New York Times as a “tenderly unromantic romantic comedy” when it debuted at off-Broadway in 2015 at New York City’s Roundtable Theatre Company, the same company that staged his first successful work, Bad Jews. In 2012.
Significant Other revolves around a man named Jordan Berman who is looking for his Mr. Right and not having much luck. So he spends his time socializing with his trio of close girlfriends. “But as singles’ nights turn into bachelorette parties, Jordan discovers that the only thing harder than finding love is supporting the loved ones around you when they do,” says the synopsis.
Significant Other is the final production of the 2023-24 season at Dobama Theatre, which calls itself “Cleveland’s Off Broadway theater.” It opens this weekend and runs for four weekends through Sunday May 19.
