Fri 9/9 @ 10AM-8:30PM
Sat 9/10 @ 8AM-8:30PM
Literary Cleveland’s annual Inkubator writing conference kicked of with a series of virtual evening program September 6-8, devoted to poetry, fiction and nonfiction.
But the meat of the event runs Friday September 9 and Saturday September 10 at the downtown branch of the Cleveland Public Library. There registrants can take in two full days featuring dozens of workshops and panel discussions, a keynote address by fiction writer & essayist Jami Attenberg, a Friday evening after party featuring author readings as well as socializing, and a book fair running from 10am-4pm Friday and 9am-4pm Saturday, featuring indie booksellers, small presses, literary journals and organizations and more from across the region.
There are three sessions Friday and four sessions Saturday with a host of choices in each slot that range from brass-tacks topics such as “tips for working with indie bookstores,” “nonfiction book proposals,” and “how to find an agent,” to writing advice such as “writing authentic dialogue” and “creating your protagonist,” to more abstract discussions of things such as “the Music of Poems,” “Rebirth, Redemption and Renewal: The Archetypal Structure and Hidden Meaning of Love Stories,” “Disrupting and Queering Appalachian Narratives” and a sure-to-be-entertaining session led by college professor/comedian/author Ken Schneck called “I Have No Idea What I’m Doing and You Can Too.”
You can register for one session, one day or the entire conference — it’s all free, but you must register. Go here.
