Ensemble Theatre isn’t ready to be back onstage live, but they’re continuing to keep their mission going by offering virtual productions.
This week, they join with Sunmedia productions for In Our Own Words :: OurStories :: Our Voices :: Episode 2, a virtual evening of theater and conversation via Broadway on Demand.
The evening features pieces by two playwrights, one local and one national, they describe as “short plays taking on big themes of love, relationships, memory, discovery, truth, and so much more.” The local playwright is actress/playwright India Nicole Burton, a familiar figure on area stages, whose Trade Flowers for Salt, directed by Jeannine Gaskin, involves a pair of women, former lovers, who re-encounter each other by chance just as one is about to get married.
It’s paired with Michigan playwright Dominique Morisseau’s Night Vision, about two people who see a woman getting beaten on the street, but when they report the crime, they find their views of the event diverge. Nathan Henry directs the play featuring two well-known area actors: Nicole and Eugene Sumlin.
All tickets are $15. Go here for more information and tickets.
