Fri 2/18-Sun 2/20 @ 11AM-4PM
As its name suggests, you don’t have to go anywhere to take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count. You can just go to the website to become an official “Citizen Scientist” for the worldwide event coordinated by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology (study of birds) and the National Audubon Society.
But if you like to be more sociable in your nature pursuits, you can come out to the Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center, Friday February 18-Sunday February 20 @ 11am-4pm for their group bird count. Bring your camera, and see if you can get something to enter in the 2022 Great Backyard Bird Count Photo Contest.
You don’t have to register or anything. Just show up. And while you’re there, tear yourself away from the wall of giant windows through which you can spot birds feeding and other wildlife, and check out the Maple SugARTcommunity art exhibit, the Discovery room, its live animal residents and of course its shop.
It’s free and open to all and wheelchair accessible. Go here for more information.
