The Cleveland Cello Society is moving ahead with its fundraiser iCellisti! 2022 — in person!
This year the annual ensemble extravaganza with feature newly arrived Baldwin Wallace University cello professor Dr. Khari Joyner (pictured), who’ll perform his own solo cello composer PetrolMusic.
But he’s only one part of a whole lot of cello power that will be onstage at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights. Students from his cello studio, as well as those of Case Western Reserve University faculty members Bryan Dumm and Ida Mercer, Bowing Green State University’s Brian Snow and Wooster College’s Mingya Zhao will do ensemble performances. And there’ll be a performance by a super-sized group of 24 cello players, including members of the Cleveland Orchestra, area teachers, students and even amateurs, performing baroque composer David Funck’s Suite and the jazz-style work DMO by Shirl Jae Atwell.
Tickets are $30, $5 for students, $100 for supporting patrons, and all proceeds go to the Cleveland Cello Society’s scholarships.
