Thu 4/1 @ 5:30-7PM
Twelve Literary Arts describes itself as “an ecosystem for poets and writers of color across generations meeting at the intersection of identity and social justice.” It offers adult residencies, youth programming and events for all ages.
One of those is its One Mic Open Poetry Series, held on the first Thursday of each month, with the first event of 2021 coming up this week. Although it’s listed under youth events and organized by Youth Program Coordinator Eric Odum, that shouldn’t put off older folk: “We encourage folk of all ages and artistic mediums to sign up and share their work,” they say. “Our goal for the Open Mic Poetry Series is to give space and equal energy to uplifting and highlighting our youth voices.”
The virtual doors open at 5:30pm; signup is from 5:30-6 with music to set the mood, and reading start right after that. Registration is requested for security purposes. Go here. The open mic will be streamed on Twelve literary Arts’ YouTube channel and recorded as well.
