Mon 1/9 @ 7PM

While much of the historical record is sketchy or speculative, author/historian Daphne Geanacopoulos has penned a book called The Pirate’s Wife: The Remarkable True Story of Sarah Kidd.

Sarah was the wife of legendary 17th-century pirate William Kidd aka Captain Kidd who was executed in 1701. His name has become synonymous with “pirate”; he’s appeared in songs and works of fiction, as well as video games. She was a wealthy New York widow who secretly helped his missions and went on to outlive him and become a prominent member of NY society.

Geanocopoulos has extensively researched and studied the lives led by pirates’ wives and has used that research as thecspringboard for her book.cShe’ll be joining the Hudson Library and Historical Society via Zoom for a virtual, livestreamed author talk. The program is free, but registration is required. Go here.
