A long time in the making, Cleveland Burlesque presented a different kind of show at its regular home at the Beachland Ballroom. Whole Lotta Love Burlesque featured ten northeast Ohio performers doing their thing to live rock & roll, provided by Cleveland band the Beams, who also performed a handful of numbers on their own.
Scarlett Chaton opened the show in aggressive fashion to Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker,” followed by Cleveland Burlesque founder Bella Sin performing to the titular Led Zeppelin tune. Two classic Jefferson Airplane tunes provided the sound for Ruby Rabbit’s lighted hula hoop act (“Somebody to Love”) and drag artist Empress Dupree (“White Rabbit”), while striking, sultry Holly Grail danced to Melissa Etheridge’s “Am I the Only One.” MJ Chamally, who trained under Bella Sin, made her burlesque debut, appearing confident and skilled for a first timer. Lola Loveletter, Poppy Poison and Aria Fuego rounded out the show in entertaining fashion, while Cleveland Burlesque’s regular host, comedian/college professor Ken Schneck kept things rolling.
