No Exit New Music Online Concert Features Chinese Flute Player

Fri 7/2 @ 7PM

Malaysian-born flute player Hong-Da Chin, who currently lives in the U.S., is a master of both western and Chinese flutes. He’s a frequent collaborator with Cleveland’s No Exit No Music ensemble, which is always looking for interesting new combinations of influences to present.

He’ll be returning to do another show for the group (unfortunately, it’s virtual, not live). Hong-Da will be playing five of his own compositions, all of them featuring traditional Chinese flutes, including the xiao, xun, bawu and dizi. Pieces he’ll play include “Darker” for xiao and electronics, “Voice Poem” for xun improvisation, “The Buzz of a Fly” for dizi solo, “Clarinet” for bawu solo, and “Crying” for xun and electronics.

“New and old will merge for a transcendent concert experience that is not to be missed!” promises No Exit.
