City Club Hosts Free Outdoor Forum on Downtown Cleveland’s Economic Future

Tue 6/27 @ noon

The City Club returns to Public Square for its second week of free lunchtime forums focusing on downtown Cleveland as a neighborhood. The topic this week is “Mapping the Economic Future of Downtown Cleveland.”

They say, “Like many legacy cities across the United States, Cleveland faces challenges in adapting to 21st-century economic realities. The COVID-19 pandemic further complicated these challenges, as firms transitioned to remote work and downtown vacancies climbed. It’s clear that succeeding at economic development will not happen by accident, and groundwork to position our communities for success needs to be laid.”

Panelists include Jeff Epstein, Chief of Integrated Development for the City of Cleveland; Libertad Figuereo, Research Partner, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy; and

Amanda Lloyd Program Directoro of Global Research Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Institute for Urban Research. Michelle Jarboe, a reporter for Crain’s Cleveland Business, moderates.

The forum is free and open to all, but if you can’t make it down, you can watch the livestream on the City Club’s website. In case of rain, the forum moves into Old Stone Church on the north side of Public Square. Questions can be tweeted to @TheCity Club or texted to 330-541-5794.
