Line dancing has long been a popular social activity. You don’t need a partner, you can come alone or bring any number of friends. You can keep the moves simple or make them fancy. No particular skill or grace is needed — they’re a bonus though.
There are two groups of people among whom line dancing is especially popular — country music fans and Black women. The Tuesday night line dancing sessions at Cleveland Metroparks Garfield Reservation, running every Tuesday through August, feature urban line dancing. The sessions include instruction, music and the chance to show off your best moves and get some exercise outdoors in the fresh air. Meet in the parking lot at Garfield Park Center (11350 Broadway Avenue). It’s free.
