Ekoostik Hookah has been coming around Cleveland for as long as they’ve been together which is 25 years now. For that long the Columbus band has been a major presence in the regional jam band scene, playing a steady stream of gigs and solidifying their base with the Hookahville festivals they’ve hosted in central Ohio as well as Nelson Ledges up here in northeast Ohio. They’re a fixture on other jam-oriented festivals as well.

Of course, they’ve seen some members come and go in that time, although founder and main songwriter Dave Katz and lead guitarist Steve Sweney remain from the founding lineup and drummer Eric Lanese has been with them since 1993 — not band for a group that never broke through to the top tier of jam bands. But they jam with the best of them, mixing influences like blues, bluegrass and funk into a base of psychedelic rock.

They’re returning once again to play the Kent Stage. The Suitcase Junket, a one-man band out of New England, opens. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
