Sun 9/11 & Sun 9/18 @ 12:30-4PM
For the next two Sundays, the Geauga Park District will be hosting a program called Monarchs & Meadow Insects. And anyone who has been curious about what lives in a meadow can come out and catch butterflies, katydids, praying mantids, grasshoppers and other insects — strictly for observation and identification, that is! If you catch Monarch, a naturalist will to tag and release it, and collect your contact information to let you know if your Monarch is recovered in Mexico, where these butterflies go in cooler weather.
You can bring your own net or use one of theirs. Come any time during the afternoon; no registration is required. But for your own good, wear long pants, socks, sunscreen and a hat.
The event takes place at Frohring Meadows on Sunday September 11 and Orchard Hills Park on Sunday September 18. For more information go to geaugaparkdistrict.org.
