Late last year, the Cleveland Print Room put out a call for artists to participate in a project called Creating During Change. The focus was on the process of creation rather than on the finished project.
“Creating During Change is a visual arts project centered around the idea of transition,” they said. “In this time of great change, personally and collectively we are experiencing a pause. There is power in this pause to reflect upon issues as we navigate this liminality. Artists hold the possibility of hope in their consciousness and work by offering another kind of world in this time.”
Nine artists in various disciplines were chosen to explore and present the process of creation rather than a final work: Jacqueline Bon & Michael Marefka, Austin (Walkin’ Cane) Charanghat, Jess Fijalkovich, Katie Hitchings, Brandon Peck, Elizabeth Prindle, David Verba and Emily Vigil.
The processes will be on view at the Cleveland Print room from 11am-3pm Saturday June 11, with the artists presenting talks starting at 1pm. The exhibition will be on view in the CPR gallery and online through July 16.
