A lot of kids get off track in their learning over the summer, and chances are this impact will intensify as they transition back to some form of school that’s still up in the air in virtually every school system, and postponed in many.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Public Library is offering multiple opportunities for kids to keep exercising their brain muscles. There’s a virtual storytime where librarians, writers and Cleveland celebrities read from their own favorite books. Read to the Beat combines storytelling and singing. And there’s a free virtual program for kids ages 3-6 to prepare the for kindergarten with activities around literacy, math, sharing and goal setting.
And if a family doesn’t have home internet, CPL is preparing to launch Dial-a-Story where children’s classics such as Alice in Wonderland and Pinocchio will be read over the phone at a special number.
