LakewoodAlive Announces Front Porch Concerts Lineup

Carlos Jones by Anastasia Pantsios

Fri 6/4 @ 7PM

LakewoodAlive has just released performer information about its 2021 Front Porch Concert Series, typically held outdoors at the main branch of the Lakewood Public Library. And while the lineup for the nine-concert series looks terrific, it will, alas, be virtual for the second summer. It’ll be hosted on LakewoodAlive’s Facebook page, despite their statement that “Right now, in the midst of a period in which the need for social bonding is perhaps greater than ever, we’re excited to bring the community together through live music.”

The series, now in its 11th year, runs each Friday evening from June 4-July 30 @ 7pm. It opens with the popular Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band, whose upbeat reggae, dedicated to promoting positive vibrations, is virtually synonymous with Cleveland summers.

They’ll be followed by the dramatic, eclectic rock of Apostle Jones (June 11), guitarist/ composer/vocalist (and Lakewood resident) Diana Chittester (June 18), infectious swing/jump blues/jazz ensemble Red Light Roxy (June 25), hip-hop/pop artist Jul Big Green (July 2), jazz pianist Theron Brown (July 9), bluesy/soulful rockers Becky Boyd & Groove Train (July 16), zydeco-influenced “party-gras” band Mo’Mojo (July 23) and folk rockers Front Porch Lights (July 30). Most of the artists booked mix creative cover versions with appealing original music, making this lineup especially exciting.

Besides Carlos Jones and the Fabulous P.L.U.S. Band, I’m looking forward to hearing two of my other all time favorites; Diana Chittester and Mo’Mojo!
