Cleveland’s once-thriving arts scene has been moribund since the outset of the pandemic and it’s anyone’s guess when it will be able to come back. But art galleries and museums are among the first to return, although most have jettisoned open receptions, typically packed social events.
But La Cosecha Galeria, a Latino-owned gallery on the near west side which foregrounds Latino artists, is giving it a go, with a “COVID-19 Reopen” celebration this week. It is offering a “Gallery Collection Walkthrough,” featuring artists Sergio Andujar, Lotus Anji, Guerrilla Girls, Derek Hess, Gabriel Marcano, Bob Peck, Palin Perez-Jackson, Dante Rodriguez, Topiltzin and Soledad Vasquez. There’ll be music by the Justo Saborit Latin/Soul Duo as well.
They are asking for attendees to RSVP wear masks and social distance. Tour guides will be steering visitors in a one-way entrance and exit situation, and the gallery promises that staff will be wearing masks and gloves, and the gallery will be well sanitized.
The event is free although they would certainly welcome donations to help promote arts in their community.
