The past four years have been wasted ones as far as national and global action on a situation we really couldn’t afford to waste time on: climate change. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do after Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement and installed fossil fuel shills and climate deniers in the agencies tasked with overseeing environmental and energy issues. Fortunately, President Joe Biden is starting to reverse some of that.
Still, while large-scale action needs to be taken by nationally and globally, there’s a lot we can do on a smaller scale. That’s what the City Club’s forum “Global Problem, Local Solution: Creating Equitable Action on Climate Change” will address.
The panelists for the forum, moderated by ideastream’s Justin Glanville, include the Rev. Marcia Dinkins executive director of Ohioans for Sustainable Change; Cindy Mumford, president of the BC Block Club; and John Seryak, founder/CEO of Go Sustainable Energy.
They’ll address questions such as “How can the solutions be advanced to create greater racial and economic equity down to the neighborhood and household level?” “What can a local government, local utility, business or congregation do to bring about greater environmental and economic justice?” “And how are these benefits amplified when residents are engaged early and often on local policymaking?” They’ll share things you, your family, neighbors and community can do to both reduce carbon pollution and expand racial, economic and environmental justice.”
