Wed 9/16 & Thu 9/17
You really need to know more about the judicial candidates who appear on your ballot, because you’re far more likely to be immediately impacted by them than by your senator. And too many people don’t both to go down the ballot and vote, or else they vote for familiar (or Irish and female) names. And there aren’t that many races this year that are contested so it’s not like you have to learn about dozens of candidates.
The Judge4Yourself.com website has been a helpful guide to assessing candidates, offering the ratings of multiple bar associations as well as questionnaires each candidate fills out about their background (If they refuse to participate, beware!)
Judge4Yourself.com, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the League of Women Voters-Greater Cleveland are offering another opportunity to get to know the candidates: a series of Zoom forums on Wednesday September 16 and Thursday September 17. Catherine LaCroix will moderate, asking a set of pre-determined questions of each candidate.
On Wednesday September 16 from noon-12:30pm, you can hear from William Vodrey and Kenneth R. Callahan (who has yet to confirm) Go here to register.
On Wednesday September 16 @ 12:45-1:15, the candidates are incumbent judge Robert McClelland and challenger Andrew J. Santoli. Register here.
Finally on Thursday September 17 @ noon-12:30pm, you can get to know candidates Richard Bell and Wanda Jones. The link is here.
