Ensemble Theatre has been presenting virtual programming throughout the pandemic, including a series of staged readings of new works.
Those readings continue but now you can see them in person at Ensemble’s new home at Notre Dame College’s Regina Auditorium. That’s where the next one takes place this Saturday June 18.
That play, The Light Post, was written by noted local theater person India Nicole Burton, actress, director, producer and playwright who serves as artistic coordinator at Cleveland Public Theatre and has done extensive work there.
According to the synopsis, “The Light Post follows the story of the McClain family, through the vantage point of Randi McClain, a lesbian Black woman, who is questioning her identity as a Queer, Black woman in the world and her relationships with predominately white women. At the same time, she is dealing with the patriarch of the family, Kevin McClain, who is losing his mind and the family bar, in an attempt to get him to sell his bar to white business owners.”
Jeannine Gaskin directs the cast of five noted local actors. The reading is free and open to the public, but they always welcome donations. To assure your spot email tickets@ensemble-theatre.org and let them know how many tickets you need. Masks are required!
