Since he released his first solo instrumental album in 1992, shortly before leaving his eponymous melodic hard rock band behind, Akron-based guitarist Neil Zaza has forged ahead, making album after album, touring in Asia and Europe, creating signature products like videos, guitars and tablature books, and putting together spectacular shows such as his One Dark Night Halloween extravaganzas and his One Silent Night Christmas events.
In those 30 years, he’s evolved from a flashy player relentlessly showcasing his technical skills to a nuanced musician whose sensitive, melodic songwriting offers a landscape for his virtuosity, which appeals to guitar freaks and ordinary listeners alike. His diverse repertoire blends his own compositions with his distinctive interpretations of familiar classical pieces and classic rock tunes, adding another entry point for listener who might not be strictly ultra fans. His engaging on stage personality helps a lot too!
While his spectaculars have played the big room at the Akron Civic, he’ll be at the venue’s smaller and more intimate Knight Stage for a more low-key show focused just on the music. Get tickets here.
