Want to know what businesses in the Greater Cleveland area are enforcing mask requirements and taking other precautions to keep their patrons safe? The new public Facebook group, “COVID-19 Compliant Businesses,” gives people the chance to share what they’ve observed during their shopping trips and give a shout-out to businesses that are doing a good job. And businesses can tell customers and potential customers what they’re doing and what they’re asking of customers.
You can see posts such as this one for Pet’s General Store in Lakewood: “Super friendly staff, all very nice. 100% mask coverage for customers and staff on both occasions I’ve been in this week.” Another shared that “While grocery shopping a couple weeks ago I couldn’t help but be impressed with Park to Shop in the Asia Plaza and Rumi’s Market and Deli. Mask compliance was required at the door, over 95% in store, and either Plexiglas or carts ensuring distancing between clerks and shoppers.” Others chimed in to say they were taking temperatures at the door and selling N95 masks for a reasonable price.”
Some people also shared where they went that they saw many people – and employees — not taking safety precautions, including many large chain superstores (hey — shop local!). And lots of local businesses are getting raves for their diligence, including Lakewood’s Tonto Tacos, which has gone back to carryout only until things are more under control; Baroana’s Bakery in Maple Heights; Breadsmith in Lakewood; the newly opened Superscript Comics and Games in Lakewood; Next Level Skate Shop in Fairview Park; CP’s Cooler homemade ice cream in Willowick; Mar-Lou Shoes in Lyndhurst; and Thai Thai in Lakewood, among others.

There’s a Cuyahoga County hotline to report businesses that aren’t following safety regulations; the number is 216-698-5050, or make complaints online at cuyahogacounty.us/maskexperience.

Mac’s Backs on Coventry is, as always, SUPER customer concerned. Not only do they wear masks themselves, they have a plexiglass ‘barrier’ covering the checkout counter, they sell masks AND provide them to customer who do not have their own masks. Plus, hand sanitiser at the door! LOVE to all Mac’s staffers – stay safe, stay sane and stay sanitised!!
