Cleveland sculptor David E. Davis, along with his wife Bernice, was the founder of the nonprofit Sculpture Center in 1989 to showcase developments in that genre, and driving force behind the establishment of the nearby Artists Archives of the Western Reserve seven years later to preserve and display works by prominent northeast Ohio artists.

He was also the winner of Cleveland Arts Prize, and many of his works are on display around town and beyond, both in outdoor spaces and museum collections. Davis passed away in 2002 at the age of 82. But his studio has been maintained to give ongoing insight into his thought and work processes. It will be the subject of the next of the Artists Archives series of studio tours, designed to give art lovers a close and personal experience with an artist and his/her workspace. Obviously in this particular case, guests won’t be talking with the artist, as is usual, but the guided tour will feature conversation about his accomplishments.

It’s free but a reservation is required. Go here.
