Akron’s Tuesday Musical Association brings acclaimed chamber ensembles to EJ Thomas Hall. But they’ve also got a more contemporary and informal series called FUZE.
For the first program, New York’s SO Percussion, a quartet which specializes in modern and contemporary music, and the University of Akron Percussion Ensemble, with join forces in the smaller Guzzetta Rehearsal Hall across from EJ Thomas to perform minimalist composer Steve Reich’s “Drumming,” a composition for percussion and voice inspired by his studies in West Africa which he wrote in the early 70s.
The FUZE concerts include refreshments and the chance for the audience to meet and talk with the performers. Tickets are $60 for the three-concert series, $25 for the one concert.
