Locavore Advocate Brad Masi Screens & Talks About His Urban Farming Film at Mac’s Backs

Wed 6/28 @ 7PM

Brad Masi is known in northeast Ohio as one of the area’s pioneers in the movement to grow and locally. He’s founded or co-founded a series of initiatives to support sustainable food systems, including Oberlin’s New Agrarian Center, George Jones Farm and Nature Preserve, the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition, and the CityFresh CSA.

He’s also a filmmaker who uses his skills in that area to continue to advocate for the local farm-to-table food scene. In his film Cleveland Growing Strong, narrator Dee Perry leads a tour of the many urban farms and gardens that have sprung up in the city in the last few years and the vast variety of people who are working them as they tell their own stories about why they started growing food in the city.

Masi will be at Mac’s Back in Coventry Village to screen the film and talk about his journey through the urban gardens of Cleveland. It’s free.
