Once again, the walls at Artists Archives of the Western Reserve are packed with artwork submitted by its members, hung salon-style, crowded together. And, for this first time in two years, they can be viewed in person, not merely on Facebook as the show opens to visitors this Thursday March 24. The reception is free and no registration is required.
The mission of Artists Archives is to preserve the work of some of the area’s most important artists, and it depends on its hundreds of members to provide some of the resources. So each year, it invites each member to submit one piece to hang in this show, now in its eighth year. The pieces are in a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, photography, ceramics and mixed media, the only requirement being that they are less than 24 inches.
Visitors to the gallery may vote on their favorite for the People’s Choice Award, with prizes being given to the top four at the end of the show’s run. (It’s on view through May 6.)
