Tonight at the Beachland Tavern you can get TWO local bands with goofy names for the price of one — and one of them is having a record release party.
That would be Yellowstone Apocalypse, a duo of two accomplished musicians: Joe Tomino, who has played with birth, Dub Trio and Matisyahu, and guitarist Mike Sopko who has played Bill Laswell, Mike Watt and Dosh, among others, who describe their sound as “a blend of devastatingly heavy, painstakingly slow and joyful noise.” And indeed they pour out waves of instrumental sludge accented with quiet patches of ominous clarity.
You think “Yellowstone Apocalypse” is a goofy name? What about “Oregon Space Trail of Doom””? They’re the opening act. With only 23 likes on their Facebook page, they’re pretty obscure. The trio gives their hometown as ‘Triton, Nepture,” but their current location as Cleveland. Aren’t we fortunate!
Admission is $10.
