Cleveland’s No Exit New Music presents a variety of artist, both local and out of town, performing music you haven’t heard before, including copious premieres.

For two upcoming shows, it’s presenting one-man performances by trombone player John Faieta. Solo trombone?

“Probably not many of our audience members have heard a solo trombone concert,” says No Exit Artistic Director Timothy Beyer. “Not like this at least! The trombone is a unique and versatile instrument, far more so than how most of us are accustomed to hearing it used. Additionally it’s rare to hear a musician of John’s talent and artistry do a concert like this.”

A Massachusetts native, Faieta’s credentials include performances with ensembles such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Boston Ballet, and the ReBirth Brass Band, and 22 years with the Atlantic Brass Quintet. He’s also the principal trombonist with Symphony New Hampshire. He recently retired as associate professor at Boston’s famed Berklee College of Music and now lives in Shaker Heights.

His program for the concerts — at the BOP STOP on Friday June 24 and at Heights Arts on Saturday July 2 — includes “Parable Solo for Trombone” by Vincent Persichetti, “You Are Not Alone” by Norman Bolter, “D.E. Memorial” by Werner Heider; “Sequenza V. For Trombone” by Luciano Berio, “Where?” by Alyssa Reit and “Postcards III” by Anthony Plog.
