TubaChristmas has become a popular variation on the standard holiday concert, giving a different twist to those familiar noels.
The University of Akron’s School of Music will be celebrating its 41st TubaChristmas, not inside E.J. Thomas Hall this year, but outdoors on the fountain sidewalk outside the hall where listeners may sit on the sidewalks, stairs and in the picnic pavilions.
There you’ll see tubas decorated with ornaments, lights and tinsel, hear tuba maestro Tucker Jolly and take part in holiday sing-alongs. This is a fun concert, performed by volunteers from the community.
Dress warmly and bring a portable chair. In case of rain, the concert will take place in the North Parking Deck on Buchtel Avenue across from Guzzetta Hall. It’s free.
