Violinist Ed Caner & Family Play an Evening of Tunes at CVNP’s Happy Days Lodge

Sun 4/30 @ 4:30PM

Ed Caner and his violin/fiddle have been part of the Cleveland music scene since the 90s when he was in noisy experimental rock band Throckmorton. While he teaches physics at Case Western Reserve University by day, he’s always moonlighted as a musician playing classical music, folk, rock and more. These days, that’s mostly in the Americana/roots rock quartet Hey Mavis, fronted by his wife Laurie Michelle Caner.

Since that band formed more than a decade ago while the Caners were doing a residency at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, it’s no surprise that Caner’s returning to their old stomping grounds, CVNP’s Happy Day Lodge. It’s billed as “An Evening with Ed Caner,” but it’s a family affair: it will feature an acoustic performance of Irish tunes and sea shanties by the Scuppers, which is Caner and his son, with special guest Laurie Caner to perform some Hey Mavis tunes as well.
