Verb Ballets and Rock Guitarist Neil Zaza Present “Carnival Macabre”

Fri 10/30-Sun 11/1

Last year, when northeast Ohio-based guitar maestro Neil Zaza performed his second edition of his spectacular show One Dark Night… at the Akron Civic Theatre, he was hinting he has something still BIGGER in mind for this year, perhaps an augmented version on the One Silent Night Christmas shows he did a few years back.

But then came the pandemic and he had to rethink all that. The result is Carnival Macabre, a wholly online performance he’s conceived with Verb Ballets, the ensemble he worked with on last year’s One Dark Night … show. But since the show is on film this year, it gives the ensemble the chance to try new things, work out kinks, correct mistakes — and reach a larger audience.

Once again, Zaza takes classical masterpieces and reworks them with a rock slant that gives them a very modern powerhouse punch.  Verb choreographer Antonio Morillo provides the steps for the dancers to interpret the music.  Together they offer a tale in music and dance of dead carnival denizens who return to life for a single day.

The show will run for three days and the $25 ticket includes 48-hour encore viewing. Go here to buy tickets.
