Learn About Growing Native Plants in Virtual Workshop

Wed 10/12 @ 6-7PM

Native plants have been catching on in local gardens as more and more people have come to recognize the benefits of landscaping with them. Not only are they healthier and easier to grow in this climate, but they are designed to support the local biosystem, providing food, shelter and other symbiotic benefits for animals, birds, butterflies, insects and even other plant life. (Non-native plants often outcompete natives ones and disrupt that biosystem.)

Intrigued and want to learn more? The Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District, National Wildlife Foundation’s Sacred Grounds and Meadow City Native Plant Nursery are holding a virtual workshop called “Landscaping with Native Plants for Beauty and Beneficial Wildlife Habitat.”

They’ll share how native plants can help manage stormwater runoff, improve air quality, and boost the entire ecosystem. At this workshop you’ll learn how to choose, plant and care for these plants, and how to source them. They’ll also provide a comprehensive list of both sun and shade plants, plants for wet and dry areas, flowers, groundcover, vines, ferns, grasses, even shrubs, trees and evergreens.  The first 40 registrants will get enough free native plants to make a 10 X 10 foot garden, with priority for Cleveland residents.

The workshop is free; registration is required. Go here.
