Thu 10/13 @ 8PM

Jim Messina was in on the ground floor of country rock. But first he was part of the short-lived but influential rock group Buffalo Springfield, which spawned such starts as Neil Young and Steven Stills. He went on to be a founding member of one of the most successful country rock bands of the ’70s, Poco. He then formed the soft rock duo Loggins and Messina with Kenny Loggins, which headlined at Blossom Music Center during their peak success in the early-mid ’70s when they had their huge hit in 1972,“Your Mama Don’t Dance.”

Messina’s done some reunion tours with both Poco and Loggins and Messina. But Messina has also performed on his own, releasing an occasional solo album. (His last was 2009’s Under a Mojito Moon. He’ll be at the Kent Stage to perform favorites from his entire lengthy career. Tickets are $35-$45.
