Musician Zach Friedhof Brings Together Friends for “Winter Love” at Akron Mustard Seed

Fri 12/20 @ 8:30PM

Akron musician Zach Friedhof isn’t that old but he’s become a veritable institution in the Akron area with his warm, positive music which he plays both solo and with his band the Bright Lights. He’s got more than 20 albums under his belt with the release of Shaila earlier this year. He’s co-founded the nonprofit Akron Peace Project and the annual Big Love Fest. He’s a kirtan leader with a passion for promoting peace, protecting the environment and building bridges between people. He calls himself “a troubadour of peace.”

He’s bringing together a group of stellar musicians for Winter Love: A Big Love Revue at the Mustard Seed in Highland Square. Dubbed “a celebration of winter ad community,” it’s an evening that’s sure to leave listeners feeling upbeat. Among his guests — all from around the Akron area — are musician/producer Nate Vaill, Americana/folk musician Ben Gage, Jen Maurer of zydeco party band Mo’Mojo, Time Cat’s powerhouse lead singer Jeri Sapronetti, Marc Lee Shannon of the Michael Stanley Band, DreamStates (he duo of eclectic LGBTQ activists Natalie Grace Martin and Madeline Eckhart), and his own group the Bright Lights.

Needless to say, there’s also a “do good for the community” element. They’re inviting people to bring a new or used coat in good condition for those in the community in need of protection against the northeast Ohio winter chill.
