By the time the Beatles broke, ushering in the era of British domination of pop music, blues guitarist John Mayall was already 30 — and do you remember what they said back then about trusting anybody over 30?

Well, a lot of the younger musicians on the scene not only trusted Mayall but respected him a LOT, and some of the top players of the ’60s British music scene passed through his Bluesbreakers including Eric Clapton, Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, Andy Fraser of Free and Mick Taylor who went on to play with the Rolling Stones.

Mayall’s never had a breakout moment but he’s kept plugging away, touring (though now at 82 less than he used to) and releasing albums, mostly live albums, highlighting what he does back. He’ll be back at the Kent Stage for an evening with John Mayall. Tickets are $26.
