Christmas in July Returns to North Coast Harbor for a Day of Family Fun

Sat 7/23 @ 1-8PM

Apparently we don’t have enough holidays because it seems like people, as well as businesses looking to make more money, keep inventing more of them. “Christmas in July” has inexplicably become a pretty big thing and given its complete severance from its season and meaning, I keep wondering why Fox “News” isn’t attacking it as part of its ginned-up “War on Christmas” campaign.

But, like Target employees saying “Happy Holidays” instead of ‘Merry Christmas,” it’s a harmless trend. And the second annual Christmas in July event sponsored by the City of Cleveland and Downtown Cleveland Alliance at Voinovich Bicentennial Park, is just a family-friendly day to get outside in the nice weather, while enjoying some fun activities.

There’ll be food tricks, giant lawn games, make-and-take crafts, live entertainment, balloon twisting and of course, the required face painting going on all day, with photos with Santa taken from 2-5pm, a magic show by Rick Smith Jr. at 3:15, Bubblemania presented by the Great Lakes Science Center at 5pm, a screening of the movie Elf at 6:30 and a lighted boat contest at dusk.
