New Bonfoey Show Features Five Artists Working in Collage

Fri 3/18 @ 10AM-6PM

This week, Bonfoey Gallery at Playhouse Square opens a new show called Amalgamation, focusing on collage, an art form that was popularized in the early 20th century by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, and since then has become ubiquitous at art shows. The name comes from the French work “coller,” meaning to glue, and involves pasting pieces together to create a whole.

The show features the work of three noted veteran Cleveland artists, Harriet Ballard Moore, Ruth Bercaw and Trudy Wiesenberger, along with Jeff Kalley from Athens, Ohio, and Mary Burke, based in Michigan.

The opening on Friday March 18 will again be an all-day viewing, and they’re asking you to schedule a time slot and wear a mask if unvaccinated. The show remains on view through Saturday April 30.
