Fri 11/18 @ 5-9PM
It’s Third Friday again and as always, there’s much to see at 78th Street Studios in the galleries, artist shops and businesses. Don’t forget that the holidays aren’t that far away and Third Friday provides a great chance to shop the galleries and the artisans that Northcoast Promotions hosts in the big event spaces on the first floor and RAMP level.
E11even2 gallery is opening a show that’s a little different for it. He gallery, which specializes in affordable art, often with pop culture themes, usually does group shows that have a theme of some kind. But Leave It at the Door is just the work of three artists, including gallery co-owner Christina Sadowski, who attended Trinity High School together, lost touch and reconnected on social media to discover that each had dabbled in art during that time. They talked about their artist’s block and criticism that had given them doubts about their talent and caused them to stop making art for a while. Now they’re leaving that negativity at the door, as Amy Kreiger shows larger-than-life portraits of her muses, Karen Sacco brings her hand-thrown mugs, and Sadowski, known for her evocation scenic photography, shows her explorations with watercolor.
Also this Third Friday HEDGE Gallery will be opening a show of the evanescent weavings of Jessica Pinsky, founder and executive director of Praxis Fiber Workshop on Waterloo. She says the work, titled I Can’t Remember Anything, was inspired by her mindset as a new mother during the early days of the pandemic.
Third Friday is free and open to all, even well-behaved children and dogs!
