Classical Revolution Cleveland was launched in 2009 by freelance classical violinist Ariel Clayton Karas, with the goal of bringing classical music to non-traditional venues and new audiences, and giving some of Cleveland’s large community of professional-level classical musicians the chance to try some hybrid things that wouldn’t work in a traditional concert hall.
It also gives them a chance to perform with different players; the group features a rotating cast of musicians, often blending classical music with other genres. While they’ve performed at a variety of off-the-all venues, even a gas station, one of their regular spots, which has been on their schedule since the beginning, is Gordon Square indie music club, the Happy Dog. They’re back there this week. The performance is free.
