Despite the pandemic, musicians are continuing to make music. And local alternative rock quintet the Fiddle Revolt has just released its self-titled debut album. (The relatively new band has previously released a couple of demos.) It offers ten tracks that adeptly mingle extended high-energy sections with passages of restrained subtly, and feature exceptionally strong vocal harmonies. Blues, funk & R&B influences find their way into songs that draw from both classic and contemporary rock & roll.
“Obviously we wanted to have a big extravagant CD release party, but with the current events preventing us from being able to do so we had to think of an alternative way to bring the music to you,” they say. “Our ‘Quarantine Jams’ offered us solace in a strange time of uncertainty, and unity in a time of feeling isolated and apart.”
They introduced the album in late July streaming it in its entirety from the Akron Recording Company. But let’s say you missed it — we did. The album is still available for streaming at thefiddlerevolt.bandcamp.
