Cleveland Zoo’s Asian Lantern Festival Extended Through Mid-September

Through Sat 9/17

Sun 9/18 @ 6-9PM

This news didn’t exactly take us by surprise: the popular Asian Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will NOT be closing on Sunday August 21 but has been extended almost another full month, through Saturday September 17.

That means 18 more chances to enjoy 70 new displays filling the zoo grounds with an array of lighted decorations, many of them representing animals ranging from endangered species to fairytale dragons. New this year is the RainForest light zone, a taste of the future RainForest Gallery.

The event also features hourly live performances by acrobats, dancers, foot jugglers, contortionists and more. And a variety of Asian-influence food is available throughout the festival, with some local chefs providing edibles at the Asian Food Market.

There’ll be both additional walk-through and drive-through evenings. And Sunday September 18, the return of Wild Ride for Wildlife, a family-friendly event where, for one night only, people can ride their bikes through the exhibit one last time before it’s taken down.
