Nude Statue of Presidential Candidate to Be Auctioned to Benefit Arts Programming

Back on August 18, a scary thing happened on Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights — something that simultaneously occurred in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. Without warning a life-size nude statue of an orange presidential candidate with weird hair appeared on the street.

It was quickly hauled off by the city, which held it captive pending its release to the artist who created it. The Coventry Special Improvement District immediately announced its intention to try to get the statue released in order to auction it off and benefit arts programs in Cleveland Heights.

Now that has happened. Artist Joshua Monroe aka “Ginger, who created the work titled “The Emperor Has No Balls,” has agreed to this plan, with the proceeds going to establish a fund at Heights Arts for future, hopefully less grotesque, public art projects. Heights Arts will oversee the sale of this monstrosity. How would it look in YOUR living room? Stay tuned for updates if you want to put in a bid.
