Blue Arrow Records on Waterloo is hosting a double record release show for two of their long-time favorites: Bad Luck Jonathon aka Jon Langford of the Mekons and the Waco Brothers, and Michigan’s Ethan Daniel Davidson. Bad Luck Jonathon is launching a full-length album which Danielson will release a 7” single.
Bad Luck Jonathan is a relatively new project for the Welsh-born, Chicago-based artist/musician Langford. It was formed in 2014 and featuring members of the Waco Brothers and Whiskeytown. He describes it as “socialist voodoo space boogie.” Those who know Langford from his many, many trips to Cleveland, as well as his art shows here, will want to check out his latest band.
Detroiter Davidson is also familiar to Clevelanders for his gloomy, angular Americana which somehow sounds sparse even though he plays with a relatively large band. Cleveland’s Terminal Lovers are also on the bill.
The show takes place at the Beachland Tavern. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Buy your ticket in advance at Blue Arrow and get a discount on the Bad Luck Jonathan album, which you will probably spend buying records and memorabilia at the store!
