Sat 8/20 @ 5:30-9:30PM
Those who’ve attended the Water Lantern Festival say it’s a beautiful experience, culminating with the release of hundreds of lighted lanterns onto the lake alongside the park from 8:30-9:30pm as night is falling. And it returns to Voinovich Park off East 9th Street this weekend.
The gates open at 5:30pm for food trucks, drink, live music and time to design your own lantern with the provided lantern kit and LED candle. Lantern retrieval and clean-up follows the launch so no, the event doesn’t leave litter in the lake. “The lanterns are made from rice paper and wood so they are as eco-friendly as possible and we reuse and recycle the LED candles,” they say.
