Fri 7/ 24-Sun 7/26
Since the start of COVID-19, arts organizations have been asking: How do we make and present live performance in the midst of a pandemic? Maelstrom Collaborative Arts is committed to breaking the mold in many ways, presenting events that throw together artists in different disciplines to encourage them to spark new concepts.
This weekend it kicks off ACTIVATE, a six-week-long series of “socially relevant” performances and art displays taking place in its Gordon Square storefront windows. Each weekend, new visual and performing artists will create work that viewers can watch from the sidewalk.
From Friday July 24 through Sunday July 26, painter Suhaylah Hamzah will showher work “Black Boys Matter,” while writer/poet Brianna Janae Armstrong will perform”Save Your Stigma Ft. Erotic Laborers.”
A new group of artists will perform/show their work each weekend through August 30.
